Building product categories or tags from vendor product information is a tiresome process. However, Venzee makes it painless, powerful, and dynamic. Here's how it works in the context of categories:
1. Navigate to the field used for categories in the export template. (For example, in the Shopify template this is the "tags" field.)
2. Click on the Advanced tab and select Category/Tag Generator.
3. Give your new custom attribute a name, choose a list (if you're working with multiple lists), and select the attribute that you will map to this field. (In the image below the custom attribute is named "MyCustomAttribute", the product list is "myproducts", and the "product" attribute is being mapped to the field.)
4. Enter a search term and the category that you want to add for products that match the search term. For example, search for "coffee table" and add a category called "living/tables/coffee table" to the category field in the template. Indicate if you want to include partial matches and click Apply.
Note: If you'd like to add more than one category or category tree to your products, you'll need to separate each custom attribute with the character supported by the solution you are exporting to. This is often a comma (,) or a semi-colon (;).
