Venzee's search and replace tool allows you to manipulate content during an export. It's both powerful and flexible and works very much like the search and replace feature in Microsoft Word. You search for content that you would like to replace and have the option of replacing content based on a partial or full match.
Search and replace currently operates at the attribute level. We will soon be introducing the ability to apply search and replace at the template field level. This will allow you to manipulate the results of multiple source attributes into one final output. Stay tuned for that.
IMPORTANT: For now, search and replace will generate one result so if you add more than one result to a template field you could end up with multiple versions of similar content.
Use search and replace right now to...
- Correct typos
- Create uniform content across exports. For example, change U.S to U.S.A.
Here's how to use search and replace to change the name of a product:
1. Navigate to the field to which your attribute will be mapped. In the image below we're mapping the attribute "name" to the title field.
2. Click on the Advanced tab and select Search and Replace.
3. Give your new custom attribute a name, choose a list (if you're working with multiple lists), select the attribute that you will map to this field, and enter the word you want replaced and the word you want it replaced with.
In the image below the name of the new custom attribute is "replace orange with fire", the name of the sample product list we're working with is "myproducts", and the attribute that we're mapping to this field is "name". We will be replacing the word "orange" to "fire" whenever it appears in the "name" attribute.
4. Click Apply.
